After studying Shakespeare and the Globe Theater, the students used Minecraft to create their own digital versions of the theater. They worked in groups of 3 or 4. One group used the iPad app and the other used the version that had been downloaded on a server for the computer lab. Both methods were enjoyed by the students, and they were able to build some very impressive buildings. There were some required elements for the project that made them similar to the original Globe. The theaters needed to be circular in shape and have three seating levels. There had to be a stage with the "heavens" and a pit going to the underworld. Once they finished, they took screenshots of their theaters and emailed them to one of the students. The student took the images and made an Animoto. You can watch it below.
